R32, with a GWP of 675 — roughly one third — has become the standard refrigerant in new residential air conditioners. Regulations such as Ghana's Energy Commission efficiency and labelling rules are pushing the region's market in the same direction, so containers of R32 models sell through faster and face fewer compliance questions at the border.

The practical differences for importers

R32 is a single-component refrigerant, which makes topping up and servicing simpler than the R410A blend. Units need roughly 10% less charge for the same capacity and typically run a few percent more efficiently. R32 is mildly flammable (class A2L), so installers should follow standard handling practice — good ventilation, no open flames during brazing — but no special equipment is required.

What it means for your product line

For price-sensitive retail, fixed-speed R32 wall splits (such as the JML GP series) offer the lowest landed cost with modern refrigerant compliance.
